Cardiff Airport Information

Serving 1.5 million passengers per year, Cardiff International Airport is Wales’ busiest airport. Situated close to the Welsh capital, the single terminal serves seven major airlines to 13 UK and European locations, with the majority of the traffic heading to Welsh and UK destinations. Cardiff International Airport ’s single terminal has been recently refurbished and currently operates services with seven major airlines, both international and domestic. Outgoing passengers can check-in on the first floor, with Arrivals situated on the main concourse on the ground level.

The airport offers full facilities including three bureaux de change and plenty of ATMs. You will find a variety of cafés and restaurants in the food court as well as a traditional pub. Duty-free shopping is found in the Departures Lounge and children may wish to visit one of the airport’s two game zones. Cardiff International Airport is completely accessible to disabled persons and is equipped with lifts and ramps as well as adapted telephones and restroom facilities. Disabled persons’ parking conforms to European standards of accessibility for disabled passengers.

Business services are located on the first floor at the Information Desk, where fax and photocopy services are available.

Transport and parking at Cardiff International Airport

Cardiff International Airport is accessible by train via a new rail line servicing the city centre as well as greater southwestern Wales. Air Bus shuttles depart from outside the main terminal and transport passengers to and from the railway and Central Bus stations. By car, the city of Cardiff can be reached in approximately 30 minutes and several reputable taxi firms offer reasonable rates. Local bus services run regularly to several Cardiff destinations and National Express coaches run to the Cardiff Central Bus Station, from where passengers can connect with other UK destinations.

Cardiff International Airport offers short-term and long-term parking options. Short-stay parking is available close to the terminal and payment is collected at machines situated just outside the Arrivals area. Prices here are charged in 30 minute intervals, with a maximum charge for 24 hours. For stays longer than this, the Long-Stay Car Park offers daily rates with nominal charges for stays longer than 15 days. Advanced booking can be made on the internet with opportunity for great savings. During the summer, a courtesy bus travels between the Long-Stay Car Park and the main terminal. For greater convenience, business passengers can find specially-designated spaces in the Short-Stay Car Park, where they can park for longer than one day at rates slightly higher than those in the Long-Stay lot. Both car parks have designated spaces for disabled persons and ramp access connects the Short-Stay lot to the main terminal.
